In this assessment task (Critique), you will be presented with an interview (conversation) between a nurse and client that incorporates strengths-based nursing principles.  Drawing on this interview (conversation), you will analyse and plan strengths-based nursing strategies to promote the well-being and health for the individual and family.

You will be required to:

1.Provide a brief critique of how the nurse engaged in a therapeutic conversation that demonstrated how a strengths-based nursing approach relates to PHC principles.
2.Use a strengths-based lens to write a summary evaluating the strengths of the client and their family, creating a context for change.
3.Develop a strengths-focussed plan of care. 

Critically analyse how the therapeutic nurse-client conversation demonstrates both a strengths-based approach and PHC principles.

To achieve this criterion, you may adapt the 3 questions from the Child & Family Wellbeing plan to guide your reflection. When writing about the nurse-client conversation answer these three questions: What went well? What needs to improve? What are you going to do to enhance your capacity to conduct a nurse-client family strengths conversation?

Evaluate the strengths of the client and family, emphasising client empowerment.

To achieve this criterion, you can identify one or more of the four foundational pillars and eight core values of strengths-based nursing and describe how they relate to a nurse-client family strengths conversation. Include at least one independent nursing actions that helps create a context where the family strengths identified in the conversation as being important to the client and family are empowered. For example, you could write a commendation for the client and their family. This section aligns to the Discovery cycle of Appreciate Inquiry that you will learn about.

Develop a plan of care that translates PHC principles through a strengths-based perspective.

In this part 3 we have to do three things. (Fill the plan(pdf) ecomaps + genogram)

1.Use the Child & Family Wellbeing Plan.
 
a.Draw a ecomaps
b.Draw a genogram

We can draw the genograms and ecomaps in two separate pages and attach to the assignment. It is a simple map showing family structure and environment etc, which we can also draw in word page using shapes.

The inserted diagrams (ecomap and genogram) and demographic details will not be included in the word count for the overall assessment however, as part of the Wellbeing Plan are necessary for completion.

Structure the section with an appropriate introduction, body, and conclusion.

Spelling, grammar and terminology are correct.

In this assessment task you are required to write an essay which has three components that need to be addressed. These components are easier to identify when you separate out the assessment instructions.

Let’s review what the assignment question and marking rubric are informing you about what is required for this task.

The purpose of this assessment is to engage with a conversation between a community nurse and a client to discover strengths, identify what could improve for the client and their family (dream what might be) and co-construct a wellbeing plan. You will reflect on the process of a family strengths conversation considering the four foundational pillars and eight core values of strengths-based nursing and primary health care.

Review a recorded family strengths conversations conducted by Dr Elisabeth Coyne RN PhD to critique the conversation and construct the wellbeing plan for the client in the recorded interview (conversation).   

This video has lot of background noise, and in some responses, it is impossible to determine what Jacinta says in reply to Elisabeth). There is written material associated with the video at the start and end that is useful for this assessment. To clearly hear Jacinta in the conversation with Dr Elisabeth Coyne, use a headset and take out the right earpiece. The right has the background track and left has the voice track. The background noise only comes through the right side of the headphones.
