The origin of Federation University Australia was founded in 1870 and it was the fourth oldest tertiary education institution in the country. It got its current name in 2014 after the merger of Monash University's Gippsland Campus and the University of Ballarat. The campuses of this university are present in Ballarat, Brisbane, Berwick, Wimmera, and Gippsland.
