Background

You are asked to create a video which analyses an organisation and the impact of their operations or delivery of a project through the use of SDGs. The video should be created as though you were presenting it to the company to identify how it can improve its performance by using the SDGs.

Task Outline

You are required to choose a company that has already implemented SDGs as a sustainability strategy. Next you are asked to analyse the company's commitment to the SDGs. The purpose of using the SDGs as a business strategy is to raise an organisation's commitment to sustainability and social responsibility using the external benchmarks of the SDGs. You will be provided with a choice of two frameworks to use to assist the analysis. The first is for organisations that have the greatest impact in their operations (i.e. within the value chain). The second is for organisations that deliver outcomes through a program (i.e. through the delivery of a project). To assist in the analysis you can use quality/performance benchmarks that align with the SDGs from the sector in which the company is located. You will be required to make a 6-minute video to complete the assessment task.

  1. Briefly outline the organisation you have chosen.
  2. Identify SDGs that the company uses to advance sustainability of the organisation or their project outcomes.
  3. Analyse how your company can be improved based on the value chain analysis or the project outcomes evaluation approach. Identify which SDGs need to be improved The documents used for this will be provided and discussed in lectures and workshops.
  4. Provide evidence of the standard or benchmark that they should be achieving. In other words, identify the gap between their current performance and the performance level they should be operating at.
  5. Provide an example of a highly successful sustainable organisation as a comparison to your chosen organisation.
  6. Conclusion – Summarise your video

Relevant documents will be provided in the assessment folder to guide you and will be explained in the lectures and workshops.
