Scenario 1
Kelly Kandidate has requested RPL for the BSBCMM401 Make a presentation competency standard. You, with the help from some of your colleagues, have been asked to assess a portfolio of evidence that has been submitted by Kelly.
Kelly’s portfolio of evidence consists of:
1. A presentation plan
2. Video of Kelly delivering the presentation.
3. Set of PowerPoint slides used to make the presentation
4.Third party report from Kelly’s manager
5.First aid certificate.
Part 1: Assess evidence that Kelly has submitted review presentation plan and PowerPoint slides and complete the document review checklist. Then view the video of Kelly making a presentation. While viewing the video,document the quality of Kelly’s presentation delivery by completing the video observation checklist.
Instructions to the candidate
You must participate in at least three validation meetings. This process shall allow you to review assessment tools developed during this TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment training program. The purpose of the review is to ensure these assessment tools are complaint and meet clients’ needs.
Work in small groups of 3 or 4 participants to complete this task. There are two roles performed:
1.Lead validator – provides their complete set of assessment documents and leads the meeting
2.Member of the validation team.
Rotate roles so that a different person leads each meeting. The duration of each meeting shall be about one hour.
You are required to complete an assessment tool validation record template at each validation meeting.
Each validation meeting must include a competency mapping activity. The purpose of this activity is to check if the assessment tool covers the entire unit and its assessment requirements.
Preparation
Bring one complete set of assessment documents you have developed. This includes:
1.Unit of competency and its assessment requirements
2.Assessment plan
3.Competency map (matrix)
4.Instructions to the candidate
5. Marking guide and instructions to the assessor
6. Assessment instruments
7. Any other relevant documents.
