Assessment Overview
Part One
You are required to research the hospitality and events ecosystems and create a word report that covers the following topics:
1. Hospitality industry commercial environment.
2. Hospitality industry trends and projected employment opportunities.
3. Hospitality industry legislative requirements.
4. Hospitality industry policies and procedures for compliance.
Your Project will Need to Cover The Following Sections And Details:
1.Introduce the topics you are going to discuss throughout your report.
2.Describe the commercial environment of the hospitality industry.
3.Discuss the current hospitality industry trends and the employment opportunities that exist because of the ever-evolving hospitality industry.
4.Detail the types of legislation that exists in the hospitality industry.
5.Describe hospitality-related policies and procedures and justify the need for such policies and procedures.
Part Two
Reflect on your own performance and feedback received during this course and other feedback you have received throughout your working and education experiences. Based on feedback and your own personal reflection, you are required to complete the following two (2) tasks that make up this Assessment:
1. Create a Personal development plan by covering the following areas:
a. List key knowledge, skills and professional behaviours you think workers in the events and hospitality industry need. You will need to ensure there are at least 10 items listed.
b. Reflect on your own knowledge, skills and professional behaviour and rate yourself against each item that you listed in the previous task (part a). Your rating will be between 1 – 10, with 1 being very poor and 10 being excellent.
c. For each item that you rank yourself less than an 8, create an action plan of how you think you can learn or develop this knowledge, skill or professional behaviour, who/what you will need to support you and by what date you propose that you will have developed this knowledge, skill or professional behaviour.
d. Give each item a priority of Low, Med or High depending on your evaluation of importance for you to acquire or improve this item of skill, knowledge or behaviour
2. Reflect on your personal development plan and answer the following questions:
a. What strategies will you use to maintain currency with the events and hospitality industry?
b. What is your responsibility to address emerging challenges and opportunities for improvements in the events and hospitality industry work environments?
c. How will you investigate and find solutions for unfamiliar problems? d. How often will I review my plan and who will I ask to give feedback on my plan?
