9050PROJ MBA Project 2021 Term 3 DashboardMy courses MBA Project 2021 Term 3 Assessments Assessment Instructions Assessment Instructions ! Audio version / Previous: 1. Project Statement Next: 3. Project Report / 2. Literature Review and Research Methodology Literature Review and Research Methodology Slide Deck Brief Your interim assessment task is to write two sections of your nal project report: your Literature Review section of circa 1,000-word, and your Research Methodology section of circa 500-word (plus 10% allowance). Therefore, you should: 1. Demonstrate knowledge of relevant literature in the discipline area of the project, outlining relevant principles and theories. 2. Describe and justify the use of a relevant research methodology and secondary data relevant to the topic. Literature review (approximately 1,000 words) First, discuss some general literature about the project's topic to establish the roots of your discussion. From the examples we have already seen, this could be about ecotourism, entrepreneurial characteristics, or nancial reports. You provided one or two paragraphs about this in the introduction but here you provide more evidence that you have read the literature, including some journal articles, and sourced reliable information. Demonstrate that you understand the main concepts, relevant principles and theories. This discussion of the literature needs to be succinct. It can include a denition of the core terms followed by a brief description of some of the main themes in the literature, usually starting at a very broad level and then narrowing it down to your topic. For example, if the eld was ecotourism, start by dening the term and selecting the denition you prefer for your project report from among the various alternatives. From there, start at a broad level by saying that the term of ecotourism covers a wide range of tourism from reef activities through bushwalking to nature-based attractions like zoos. Finally, describe the narrow aspect of ecotourism explored by your project report, for example, reef activities. Please review the Literature review example. Research methodology (approximately 500 words) The research methodology section consists of two parts: 1. Research method Here you describe what research methodology you used to conduct your study. Are you doing an industry case study or are you comparing across industries? On what basis have you selected the organisations or industry to study? How many industries are involved? What secondary data will you use? Give citations (provide references) when discussing your research methodology. 2. Data, data collection and analysis You must provide precise details of the way in which you collected and analysed your secondary data and what data you actually used (such as the use of company annual reports, industry magazines or industry data). Use references to show that you have learned about the methods and how to apply them correctly. Please review the following examples: Research methodology example 1 - Single case study Research methodology example 2 - Multiple case study You should submit your literature review and research methodology as one document containing: 1. A title page with your project title, your discipline, and your name. 2. The Purpose of the research section from the Project Statement you submitted in your rst assessment. All you need to do is to review and address the feedback you have received for the Project Statement assessment and copy and paste it in. 3. Your Literature Review of about 1,000 words. 4. Your methodology section of 500 words. 5. A list of references that you have used. Requirements Presentation and style All written assessments should be submitted as Word les (.docx) (Word is available from your AIB Oce 365 account). If you prefer to use an alternative word processor, such as Pages for Mac, ensure that you save or export the le to Word (.docx) format before submitting it. You are required to use: AIB preferred Microsoft Word settings Author-date style referencing (which includes in-text citations plus a reference list). These requirements are detailed in the AIB Style Guide. Referencing Reference lists for the projects should contain approximately 612 relevant references from dierent sources. All references must be from credible sources such as books, industry-related journals, magazines, company documents, and recent academic articles. Most web- based resources are not suciently supported (e.g. peer-reviewed) to be useful as a reference, except where they provide industry information. Penalties Your grade will be adversely aected if your assessment contains no/poor citations and/or reference list and if your assessment word length is beyond the allowed tolerance level (see the Assessment Policy available on the AIB website). Grading criteria Your literature review and research methodology will be marked according to the following criteria: 1. Literature Review: Demonstrates an understanding of contemporary business theory and practice related to the identied problem or opportunity through critical examination of the relevant literature. (55%) 2. Research Methods: Describes and justies the research methods used to collect and analyse data, demonstrating an ability to apply innovative approaches, techniques, and ethical perspectives using secondary data sources to the solution of the identied problem or exploration of the opportunity.
