In this subject, we have considered various ethical frameworks that individuals and organisations use in order to make decisions. In particular, our focus has been the hotel and resort industry. As you consider your future role as a manager in this, your chosen industry, you are asked to review the learnings from this term that have made a strong impact on you, and you might adopt as part of your managerial decision-making toolkit. Review the learning outcomes noted for this assessment and consider both theory and application of ethical decision making frameworks for internal and external stakeholders, that include investors, destination context, visitors, the community and the environment.
Instructions
You are required to reflect on key learnings from theory and case studies in relation to ethical frameworks for decision-making, with a particular focus on your future roles in hotel and resort management. Respond to the following questions in an essay format that has a clear introduction, discussion of 2-3 key ideas (body) and has a strong conclusion, with recommendations for you as a future hotel/resort manager.
1. What are the key ethical frameworks and case studies that have made a strong impression on you in this subject?
2. Discuss, with evidence of specific case study examples, and 2-3 theories, how you would apply these ethical frameworks in a hotel or resort setting, and with particular reference to internal stakeholders (employees), and external stakeholders (eg, investors, guests, the destination environment).
3. What is the significance of this learning for you as a hotel/ resort manager? Draw a conclusion with three recommendations for your future manager self.
4. Support your discussion, with evidence from your reading, including the prescribed text and other credible sources.
