Assessment Class Presentation
In groups of two (2) choose or create an individual from a non-Western culture, who does not speak the English language or has English as a second language.
Explain and reflect upon the impact that the Australian Health Care system could have on this persons health/wellbeing, following their admission to hospital with an acute illness or interaction with a health care professional of your choice.
1. Identify at least 4 relevant issues that you believe will have an impact
2. What do you think the main impact might be?
3. How do you think you might overcome these issues if you were the nurse involved?
4. What are some measures that could be taken to address the persons likely concerns?
5. What do you think some of the culturally sensitive areas might be?
6. What resources might you use to communicate with the person involved and their family?
Any issues that you consider relevant may be discussed and other areas that should be considered include:
